This is quite a decent bar in a nice setting by the river, hence the name.
It has been newly refurbished in a modern style, with nice outdoor areas.
Above the River Bar is an Italian restaraunt which is also worth a visit called Fiume.
Although I live in Washington I tend not to drink here much as the bars really leave a lot to be desired but to be honest this bar is quite good and if I'm starting a night in Washington I will usually start here before heading into Newcastle.
Overall I think if you are having a night in Washington I would recommend this bar. -

Overpriced drinks, and very loud music. Not somewhere to go if you'd like a quiet drink with the family. However, has a good atmosphere as a precursor to a night on the town.

Riverbar is ok for a couple of drinks before heading in to town but I wouldn't like to spend all night there. I think the drinks are expensive and the atmosphere isn't particularly friendly. I think it doesn't attract the nicest of punters and one of my mates came in to a bit of trouble there with an undesirable.
